Education and Workforce Services

Education and Workforce Services provides holistic academic instruction to individuals 18 years of age and older to ensure they have the education and skills required to achieve self-sufficiency and a higher standard of living. Throughout the program, we connect participants with workforce programs, financial education programs, and other resources uniquely suited to support their goals.

CFC’s newest endeavor, Workforce Skills Training, supports workforce development through partnerships with community-based organizations and local employers. Through this initiative, clients in the program are provided with an opportunity to earn three nationally-recognized industry credentials. Through our partnership with University of Houston’s Community Health Worker Initiative, we are also proud to offer Community Health Worker certification which allows participants to become non-medical public health workers who connect communities to health care and social service providers.

GED and ESL Courses

The GED program is designed for individuals who did not complete high school and want to earn a high school equivalency credential. The GED test covers four subject areas: Reasoning Through Language Arts, Mathematical Reasoning, Science, and Social Studies. Successfully passing the GED test demonstrates that the test-taker has high school-level academic skills.

  • Comprehensive Coverage: The test assesses knowledge and skills across four core subjects, ensuring a well-

ESL programs are designed to help non-native English speakers improve their language skills. These programs focus on developing proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing in English. ESL classes are available at various levels, from beginner to advanced, and can be tailored to meet the specific needs of learners.

Computer Literacy Classes

Computer literacy classes are designed to help individuals develop essential skills and knowledge to effectively use
computers and related technology. These classes typically cover a range of topics, including:

  • Basic computer operations: Understanding how to use a computer, including turning it on/off, navigating the
    operating system, and managing files.
  • Software applications: Learning to use common software programs such as word processors, spreadsheets, and
    presentation tools.
  • Internet and email: Navigating the internet, using search engines, and managing email accounts.
