Youth Soccer Field Unveiling

CFC Welcomes Rotary International President

On January 12 Community Family Centers proudly  welcomed Rotary International President K.R. Ravindran to our new Youth Soccer Field built in Houston's East End Community through partnership with Rotary Club of Houston Skyline, Houston Dynamo / Dynamo Charities and Community Family Centers.

During the unveiling, Mrs. Ravindran presented Maritza Guerrero, President/CEO of CFC with a beautiful silk scarf that signifies the gift that CFC is to the world.

Thank you to representatives from Congressman Gene Green's office and Commissioner R. Jack Cagle's office, President of Houston East End Chamber Frances Castaneda Dyess, L. Bentley Sanford, President of TAM International, members of CFC's Board of Directors Harris County Precinct 6 Constable Heliodoro Martinez and William Malone of ExxonMobil Houston Campus for joining us for this special event.

The new Youth Soccer Field is located near Community Family Centers and CFC's J. P. McGovern Sports and Recreation Center (7318 Avenue F, Houston, Texas 77011).  Please stay tuned for soccer field information and upcoming events.

 Gratitude Galore

Students Lending a Helping Hand

Thank you to the students and staff of the Regis School of the Sacred Heart for putting smiles on the faces of the people they distributed food to during a recent Food Fair.  These young men were small but their hearts were huge!  We also appreciate the help of CFC Board member, Megan Long, who made this volunteer event a possibility.

Many thanks to the members of the Glenda Dawson High School Spanish Honor Society who came from Pearland, TX this month to distribute food during a Friday Food Fair.  Their energy and smiles made a big difference as they helped serve the families of the East End community.

If your school group is interested in making a difference at CFC, please contact our office for more information.

Life's most persistent and urgent question is:

"What are you doing for others?"

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Each year, people across the country answer this question by coming together on Martin Luther King, Jr.  Day to serve their neighbors and communities.  All of us at Community Family Centers count ourselves grateful for the opportunity to serve the families of Houston's Greater East End.  We also recognize the exceptional volunteers who selflessly give of their time in service to CFC and their fellow man: from distributing food during our weekly food fairs to office assistance to beautification projects.

As we embark on a new year, I look forward with anticipation to greater ways in which CFC can serve the East End.  As we strive to create "Strong Families Today for a Stronger Community Tomorrow", our efforts are many but they are also endless.

If you are looking for ways to serve this year, we would love for you to join us in our mission.  Please contact our office for ways in which you and/or your group can volunteer with CFC.  It would be my pleasure to meet you as we work together to impact lives and improve this community.

Sinceramente,

Maritza Guerrero

President/CEO
